The Port’s facilities and experienced workforce are perfectly
suited for these types of projects. CP Rail and Conrail provide
excellent clearance routes for high, wide or heavy movements into
the Port. The Albany Port Railroad Corp. provides responsive and
efficient switching service.
In addition to the Port’s 225-ton American Crawler Crane,
barge mounted cranes with 1,000 ton lift capability are available
to enable your high, wide or heavy product to move efficiently
and safely.
Successful heavy lift/project cargo shipments demand the timely
and accurate coordination of all functions involved. The Port
of Albany’s team–management, stevedore and labor–all
work hand-in-hand to design, coordinate and execute “trouble
free” cargo shipments. Our seasoned workforce has the know
how and expertise in lashing, blocking, bracing and stowing all
types of Heavy Lift/Project Cargo including generators, turbines,
heat exchangers and rotors.
Dockside rail with 1,000 p.s.f. weight capability and ample staging
areas which allow high, heavy, and wide cargo to be marshalled
give the shipper an efficient, cost effective and easier loading
for these specialized cargoes.

The Port
of Albany has taken a special interest in the importing, handling,
storage and processing of cocoa beans.
The Port of Albany has an abundant amount of modern food grade
storage space with fire sprinklers and automatic fogging for insect
control. We offer economical rates and the most efficient super-sacking
operation on the East Coast.
The Port of Albany is centrally located for deliveries to most
major cocoa bean grinding plants in Upstate New York, Canada,
Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Northern New Jersey and the Mid-west.
